An acne diet is a very interesting idea. Who hasn’t heard that eating chocolate may make you break out. Almost all of us have. So instead of causing a break out, you could prevent it by watching what you eat.
Although creating a good acne diet can be very hard. Its very personal because it has to be based on an individuals responses to food. Your advancement will mostly be by trial and error and not all by guidelines. Check your skin thoroughly every day. Write it all down. Taking pictures with your digital camera is a good way to keep a journal. If and when your acne diminishes stick to the diet plan you are on at the time.
Here are some guidelines to get you started on an acne diet:
* You need to increase your protein - Many dermatologists are under the belief that protein is connected with clearer skin. They believe this because protein has an enzyme in it that limits oil production. Oily skin seems to be extremely prone to breakouts.
* Don’t eat carbs - Do not take all carbs out of your diet. But you do need to limit them so that they are only about 40 percent of your diet. Carbohydrates contain compounds that stimulate oil production. This is why so many people think that junk food causes acne. But actually junk food just is pretty high in carbs.
* Try to drink green tea - Drinking the real stuff is the best. The best type of green tea is the kind that you brew. However, if you really don’t like it, then try the natural green tea drinks. Androgen production will be limited when you drink green tea. Breakouts can be caused by the hormone called androgen.
* You must restrict the amount of salt you take in - Most salt contains iodine. This is the reason we usually call table salt “iodized salt.” Iodine is a major inflammatory agent in those with acne.
It is very important to watch what you eat and put on your face. If you have acne you are already aware of what ingredients are in your facial products. Those who are prone to acne should look for oil free moisturizers. Products containing natural ingredients will least likely irritate your skin. If you wear makeup, then consider investing in mineral makeup. Many dermatologists believe that mineral makeup can actually alleviate acne problems and enhance the results of your acne diet.
