In the days of our fathers and their fathers, there were very few choices for a man when it came to what sort of black titanium rings for men to wear. Men in those days rarely wore rings as pure decoration – they wore wedding bands, occasionally a school ring, and maybe a fraternal one if they were a Mason or an Oddfellow. But regardless, most of those rings were made from gold. Gold men’s rings are the simple white shirt of today’s jewellery: they’re the most common, but more and more men are choosing to go in new and bolder directions.
About ten years ago, suddenly many young men started piercing their ears and wearing black titanium rings. As they grew older, some used gold earrings for special occasions, but not to go to work. Gold bracelets and silver bracelets become more common amongst men. A new trend of jewellery just for men started to develop and now it is a booming market. Men love jewellery! It is not an exclusively feminine field anymore. As global recession gets worse, the price of gold skyrockets and the salaries are not so dependable, mens jewellery has turned to less noble metals with great success. Sterling Silver, Titanium, Zirconium, all those metal looking colors seem to fit their masculinity. After all, a ring of titanium sounds hard core and Silver Sterling sounds very solid.
Titanium also comes in a wider array of colors. Gold rings are limited to either gold or “white gold” colors – although white gold is merely a lesser alloy, covered with rhodium plating that requires regular upkeep and reconditioning. Titanium can take on a multitude of colors, without adding a weaker coating to the rings. Everything from bright oranges, cool blues, vivid greens and high-gloss blacks can be achieved in titanium – and of course, you can always stick with the tried-and-true silver-grey color. In short, black wedding ring are a wonderful option, but they aren’t the only one anymore. Today, a man can choose a ring made out of any number of precious and semi-precious metals. Gold can be the whole of a ring, an accent to another metal, or not included at all, and the ring can still be a valued addition to the man’s attire.
