I am writing an article about the effect film has had on our history and society, but am having a hard time.
I have found a few but i need more actual studies and things of that nature that look into the effect and have studied it. Hopefully they cite examples of what, when, and how film did this. As far as the country it took place in it doesnt matter, i just need some examples of how it has effected us. i know it has i just cant find anybody writing about it, with anything other than just blind finger pointing and even that is harder to come by than i thought it would be.

See if you can find something on the French New Wave movement, that should give you some ideas. I don’t know any specific book/study titles, but it was a pivotal movement in cinema history– the movies were influenced by current events and a whole generation was influenced by the movies of this movement.
You can also approach it by picking a time period and seeing what were the great movies of the time and what their purpose was. For instance a lot of films made in Europe during WWII were meant to bring hope to the people who watched them. On the other hand, movies made at that time by the German side (for example, Leni Riefenstahl), were used as war propaganda and used to extend the Nazi influence.
Above all i would say, it’s a lot easier to talk about this sort subject if you discuss European or Asian cinema, a lot of American movies are too influenced by the business side of film-making to be considered in the cultural context.

First when i read this question I began to think about different types of films and filmstyles. But I suspect that you are more interested in how movies effected the society.
To get an quite clear issue to take as an example I would suspect that how hollywood have related themself to the Holocaust. I saw a documentary that aimed onto the issue and they putted examples all from the beginning of the 1930s and gave different examples from different eras. After ww2 for instance they showed a very naked picture of the holocaust but then in the 50s , 60s it wasnt exactly something that was toched , Then you have spielbergs shindlers list that put up the issue again. I suggest you go to Internet movie database and look at key words and then see what you can come up with. The link below is set on the search Holocaust. But ofcourse you can search in any other way that fits you . But at least this can be a point in right direction to solve your issue. Good Luck with your article !
